Ferret Armoured Car '02CC12'
We have recently received an email off a Mr James Davies in the UK, with a request of information or photos of a Ferret Mk1 Armoured Car that served in BAOR from 1959 to 1989, when it was sold on the civilian market. As it served most of its time in Harewood Barracks in Herford, there is a chance that some of the 'old & bold' of the branch, or in the local area may have worked on, or have photos of 02CC12 while it was in service.
In research he has done so far, it would seem that the Ferret in question served mainly in the HQ Squadron of the Div Recce Regiments in Harewood Barracks and has uncovered one definite photo of it on parade with 1 RTR. He assures me that the number plate on the Ferret on the original photo does indeed bear the registration 02CC12.
Another possible photo, although the registration cannot be seen, is this one of three Ferrets of 1 RTR escorting their colours on the occasion of their farewell parade on their departure from Herford in October 1982.

When Mr Davies bought the Ferret it could only be described as 'requiring work' as it was in a far from roadworthy state.
The result of time, hard work and loving attention has restored it to a state that would probably be the envy of many of its crews during its 30 year service. Now he needs some assistance to find out more about the object of his hobby.
