Poppy Appeal 2012
Eddie, our Poppy Appeal Organizer has received a letter from the RBL Overseas Development Officer, Vanessa Dean, that he wishes to pass on to all Branch Members and others responsible for fund raising for the Poppy Appeal last year.

"Dear Mr Hefferman ,

I am writing to you in connection with information that I have received from yourself advising us of the result of the 2012 Poppy Appeal held by the Royal British Legion HERFORD BRANCH.

I note that the collection realized the splendid amount of €15,869.82 which gives a sterling collection of £12,868.91, an increase of over £4,000.00. Congratulations on this result.

Do please convey our sincere appreciation to all those who assisted you. It is only with the help of such good friends that we are able to continue our work. As you are aware our need is greater than ever. I do hope that we can rely on your support again for the 2013 Poppy Appeal."

A 'Well Done' and a huge 'Thank You' to all those who were involved in the Branch's 2012 Poppy Appeal.

District's Representatives at the National Festival of Remembrance 2011
On Thursday 10th November a party of 25 people from the following Branches, Herford, Minden, Sauerland, Dortmund, Rheindahlen and Fallingboestel/Heide left Germany to attend the Festival of Remembrance weekend.  The picture is taken of us all prior to attending the royal Albert Hall in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen.  The weekend finished off with members attending the Cenotaph Parade and the following morning returning to Germany and our home destinations.

District's Representatives at the National Festival of Remembrance 2010
On Thursday the 11 November 2010 a group of representatives of the District of Germany left Herford early morning for a long drive and ferry crossing to get to London for a hectic weekend in the capital.
Simple accommodation was proved by tentage inside a TA Center, which went a long way towards saving costs of the trip. The group attended the Festival of Remembrance at the Albert Hall on Saturday night and the Remembrance Parade on the Sunday.
During the trip, time was made to take a trip to visit the RBL Poppy Factory. Good to see at a time of year where the poppy is almost everywhere.

RBL Flying the Flag
Eddie Hefferman, Terry Salmon and BFG's own 'Poppy Man' represented the RBL at the Divisional Careers Transition Fair, held on the 16th of March in the Shützenhalle, Herford. The day was for people leaving the forces and seeking employment, mainly in the UK and Germany, although there were also stands from as far as Spain. The team from the RBL were there to remind those heading for 'civvy street' that they can not only continue to help service and ex-service members and their families, but that once out, the British Legion is still there to help them.

There has been a request from a Mr James Davies in the UK for information on or photos of a Ferret Mk1 Armoured Car that he has restored. It had the registration 02CC12 and did 30 years service in Harewood Barracks with various Regiments. Maybe you think you can help, or just want more information?

The children of our soldiers are missing their fathers more than ever as they serve Britain on more frequent tours across the world.  My Daddy Is A Soldier aims to support young children and families dealing with soldiers deployments overseas.
